Chiswick - pretty flower background effects.

I love a pretty flower and using them on a project just turns something plain into something a little more feminine - and that's what us girls like right? so when i needed to make a quick gift tag and incorporate flowers i opted for a tone on tone look using flowers and inks. I adhered the flowers to a coloured tag to create a not too feminine background for a colourful tag.
to add some more colour to my tag i used the beautiful set of chipboard ephemera and then added colours to match that of the chipboard elements.
I love how a simple flower or leaf element can make such a difference to a simple gift tag. A few scattered diamonds repeats the red accent colour.
In the background you can see how the ivory flowers stand out against the coloured tag they sit on - i love tone on tone effects - subtle but effective. These paper flowers are perfect for backgrounds and clusters.
Here's how i added my flowers to my tag.
step 1 - Colour your tag using your choice of inks, mists or ink pads.
Select your flowers and position them onto your tag until you are happy with your placement.
step 2 - Use gel medium and a large brush to adhere the flowers onto your tag. Paint a layer of gel medium onto the tag, place your flower onto the gel medium and then paint another layer of gel medium over the flowers. Flatten your flowers using your paint brush. Leave them to dry thoroughly before cutting off the overlapping pieces off using your Chiswick scissors.
  Tips and hints
Because these flowers are so delicate, be careful to not tear them as your paint
over them with the gel medium
Rather use a smaller paint brush for this delicate job to avoid tearing your flower petals off
To add extra pizazz to your flowers, once the gel medium has dried, spray or mist the entire tag using a pearly mist and leave to dry. The pearly mist will give your tag and flowers a nice shimmer making your tag extra special
i also used a script stamp to lightly stamp over my tag once the gel medium was dry - you can see the faint stamping in a light black giving added interest to your flower background

I hope you enjoy experimenting with your flowers and using them on backgrounds instead of clusters for a different look and feel! And here are the products i used
